How To Transfer Files Between Computer Using Terminal|Command Prompt.

 

Transfer files between computer in linux terminal

 

1.Launch the Linux terminal


2.Find the destination IP Address using "ifconfig" command in linux terminal.


3.scp /home/username1/file username2@ip:/home/username2/
 

  •   Source file directory "/home/username1/file"
  •   Destination file directory "username2@ip:/home/username2/"
  •   @ip: Ip address of destination computer checked in step 2

eg:Transfer file "haktuts" from username1 to username 2

 

4.scp /home/username1/haktuts username2@192.168.1.10:/home/username2/

 

Note:Both the computer are connected within Local area network Or Using same wifi.

 

 

Transfer Folder between computer in linux terminal

 

1.Launch the Linux terminal

 

2.Find the destination IP Address using "ifconfig" command in linux terminal.

 

3.scp /home/username1/folder/ username2@ip:/home/username2/

 

eg:Transfer folder "haktuts" from username1 to username 2

 

4. scp /home/username1/haktuts/ username2@192.168.1.10:/home/username2/

 

 

Transfer files between computer using command prompt

 

1. Launch the command prompt via pressing "windows+R" button then type "cmd"

 

2. copy c:\users\file.txt \\target machine name\c$\file.txt

 

  •  Source directory c:\users\file.txt
  •  Destination directory \target machine name\c$\file.txt
  •  c$ Use "c$" to reference C drive on the remote machine

 

3. eg: Transfer "haktuts.txt" file from admin-haktuts to user-haktuts machine


copy c:\users\admin-haktuts\haktuts.txt \\user-haktuts\c$\haktuts.txt
